How to Travel and maintain your Health with the Right Mix

Even though traveling is fun, staying healthy while on a road trip across the Philippines, exploring the beauty of Thailand, interacting with nature while on an African safari or sightseeing in Malaysia is never easy. In fact, most people tend to ditch their health and fitness routines once they hit the road which is unfortunate because getting back on track can prove to be incredibly tough. The good news is that you don’t have to throw all caution to the wind because here is how to travel and stay healthy with the right mix.

Don’t forget your water

It is a well-known fact that dehydration is part of the package in traveling and as such, you should always be ready to tackle it. If you don’t, then you’ll find yourself suffering from fatigue, dry skin, and headaches by the time your journey ends. To enjoy a smooth ride, ensure that you carry water with you. This doesn’t necessarily mean you carry jerry cans of water to the airplane. It means that you can buy a two-liter reusable bottle and fill it up from home. In fact, you can make it even more beneficial by adding frozen berries, fruits, cucumber, and even mint, thereby getting double benefits as these fruits ensure that you stay refreshed on the journey. Because the humidity above the ground is usually lower than on the ground, water is especially important if you are taking an airplane.

Take green smoothies with you

Yes, we just told you to carry your green smoothies with you. Is it easy to think “smoothies? Won’t they go bad before the trip is over?” Well, the secret to carrying your smoothie is having a cooler. If you are going on a day trip, prepare yourself and once everything is ready, blend your ingredients and add them to a mason jar.  Ensure it has a lid with a straw hole so you can easily drink it while traveling. Note that, this is recommended for day trips and not those trips when you are stuck on a plane or in a car for ten hours straight. It is, however, suitable for a three to five hours plane trip.

If you will be staying overnight, for instance, if you are going to camp, prepare your jars of smoothie the night before and store them in airtight containers and ensure you deep freeze them overnight. The next day, transfer your smoothies to a cooler which contains a lot of ice. This will ensure that they stay cool and will still be fresh for human consumption the next day (this is recommended for long road trips and camping). However, it is important to note that not all ingredients are suitable for blending overnight. For instance, avocados and bananas do not fit into this category.

The recommended ingredients for overnight traveling include spinach, mangoes, pineapples, strawberries, orange, lemons or lime. There is so much you can do with these ingredients to create that perfect smoothie. Nevertheless, ensure you add citrus fruits in green smoothies as the acidity helps them last longer. Green smoothies help you recover from jet lag and are also heavy hence help you avoid junks by creating a feeling of fullness. It is also important how you make smoothies! In our opinion, the only way to enjoy such smoothies is making them using a juicer of the best quality. This is why you should ensure you buy the best juicer only after you have gone through the reviews and ratings since this is a very important component to your travel and health.

Fresh fruit juices

If you are going on a road trip, you have no excuse not to stay healthy because you got more options than someone who is boarding a plane. For instance, you have the opportunity to either carry fresh fruit juices made from home in a cooler or carry whole fruits and your juicer. The second option is undoubtedly more recommendable because this way you get to take your fruit juice fresh from juicing. Fruits like oranges, mangoes and pineapples and berries like blueberries, plums, strawberries, cherries, and red berries are usually full of antioxidants. Juicing them in advance or carrying them to juice during the trip pumps you with antioxidants which help improve your immune system enabling your body to cope with the new climatic conditions in the region you are traveling to, thereby ensuring you enjoy every minute of the trip. This is why having a quality juicer is essential.

In a nutshell, traveling does not mean that you stop staying healthy. It also does not mean that you deviate from your diet because above are just some of the few ways of traveling with the right mix.
