Montana Farm, Wang Nam Khiao

The lovely Montana Farm can be found in Wang Nam Khiao, one of the districts in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand.

It’s a fun attraction for all, whether you’re travelling with your family, with friends, as a couple, or on your own. You can experience countryside life, soak up the scenic views, take part in an array of activities, and enjoy inhaling some of the freshest air in all of Thailand!

The gardens at Montana Farm are well-maintained, offering plenty of opportunities for a pleasant stroll. Colourful flowers, tinkling fountains, and imaginative statues / sculptures are sure to catch your eye! A large statue of a red bull stands proudly in the grounds, displaying the farms name on a bib-like garment around its neck. Other interesting statues include windmills, cartoon-like farmyard animals, and lanterns. Wander along the crazy-paved pathways, lined with lantern-topped lampposts, and see fairy lights strung through the trees.

Head to the small elevated Bridge of Love, a place where lovers and friends affix locks to cement their relationship.

There are several greenhouses, where you can learn more about different crops are grown, and you also have the opportunity to discover more about hydroponic farming, whereby plants are grown in water as opposed to the more traditional methods of being grown in soil.

Visitors can get up close and personal with an assortment of creatures on the farm. Perhaps one of the most unusual attractions is Alpaca Land! Home to several woolly alpacas, it’s a great chance to see creatures that are not native to Thailand outside of a zoo. Well-protected from outside influences, visitors must thoroughly disinfect their hands and wear protective coverings on their shoes before stepping into the alpaca area. You can buy a bag of carrot strips to hand-feed to the placid creatures. Don’t worry about them getting too hot either – they have their own special air-conditioned room where they can retreat to cool off if the tropical temperatures become a bit too much! There is also an artificial hill for them to climb, in keeping with their usual habitat.

Sheep are also popular at Montana Farm, and again, you can buy food to give to these friendly creatures. Do take a look at their living quarters too – it resembles a Swiss chalet!

Horse rides are available for adults, and younger visitors can have fun trotting around the farm on the back of a small pony.

If you’re looking for something a bit more thrilling, you can rent a quad-bike to zip around a designated area. Complete with potholes, mounds, and obstacles, it’s sure to raise a few giggles! You can also test your aim and have a go at shooting and archery.

An onsite restaurant serves an assortment of Thai dishes and steak. Although it is quite pricey, when compared to other typical Thai restaurants, the quality is really good. Alternatively, chill out with a cool drink in the café. The farm shop sells a selection of fresh, local produce, including things like hydroponic greens, garlic, and jars of fruit jam. It also has novelty souvenirs to remind you of your fun day out.

If you just don’t want the fun to end, onsite accommodation is also available. Spend the night in one of the gorgeous Swiss-style chalets, which overlook the mountains, or get back to basics in the campground.

Admission to Montana Farm is 50 THB per person, although most activities have additional charges. For example, you will need to pay an extra 100 THB if you wish to enjoy Alpaca Land.
