Perhentian Island, one of the most beautiful nature treasures you can find in the east coast of West
Malayisia is located in the state of Terengganu. This island is surrounded by sky blue water with rich marine life and is divided into two islands namely Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil.
There are many things one can find on both islands. Such as going on a snorkeling trip to Coral Garden,Light House, Turtle Point and Shark Point – Yes, there are human friendly sharks to spot. Hiking across the island is a fantastic experience to not let go as you hike through the lush tropic greenery that both islands has to offer. Be sure to catch the amazing sun rise and sun set over the ocean across the horizon by the beach. You might want to be early to get a good spot. Scuba Diving is another favorite among the enthusiast. If you are not one yet, you are about to be.
Many eateries are available to suit your appetite with wide selections of food. To get in touch with love ones; there are strong WIFI network available at selected places.
Accommodation ranges from RM 100 to RM500 and above for Perhentian Besar. Best suit for couple on
honeymoon or family to spend quality time together. Perhentian Kecil which is a backpacker island
offers much surprises if you are willing to explore. There are many budget accommodations within RM5
to RM100. Suitable for people on a shoestring budget but looking for an adventure at the same time.
Due to popularity of the islands, be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. Best time to visit is April to October. Avoid monsoon season during November to January.

From Kuala Lumpur:
By flight: Fly to Kota Bharu ( 1 hour flight ) and get a taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty ( 1 hour )
By bus : Overnight bus is the best from the bus terminal – Terminal Putra ( 7-8 hours journey).
By car : Drive to Kuala Besut jetty ( 7-8 hours journey). Parking is free by the jetty.
From jetty :
2 – Way ferry ride from Kuala Besut jetty to Perhentian Island is RM 50 – RM 70 per person. Ferry to
island is every hour. Ferry from island to jetty is 3 times daily at 8am, 12 noon and 4pm.
