Cameron Highlands – More Than Just Tea Plantations

Tucked away in the mountains beneath the azure sky lies a tranquil valley that has been the locals’ favorite getaway for the past decades. While most parts of Malaysia are made up of lush greenery and tropical verdure, the hills of Cameron Highlands, however, are easily distinguishable from the rest. Here, the sky is bluer and clearer than ever, meticulously dotted with creamy pastel-like clouds. The hills are graced with a blanket of the greenest vegetation, while each breath we take feels like a thousand of blissful particles frolicking in our lungs. Yes, Cameron is beautiful, and it certainly is a very delightful change from the concrete cities that we have long been living in.

The stillness and peace has a healing property most suitable for those who are feeling stressed up and troubled

One can easily seek solace in the quietude of Cameron Highlands. The stillness and peace has a healing property most suitable for those who are feeling stressed up and troubled. There really isn’t much to do up here, but there are so much that we could see, hear, smell, and feel.

Since the hills are notable for their tea plantations, reveling in a cup of tea or two is definitely a must. Nothing beats sipping a cup of hot, fragrant tea in a cool weather while lounging on a cozy couch on a veranda overlooking the plantations. It is very true what people often say – the simple pleasures are what make life worth living.

It is highly unusual to have such beautiful places in a tropical country like Malaysia

Another must-do thing while in Cameron Highlands is to have a steamboat dinner. Most restaurants now offer dual soup pots, and customers are able to relish in the broths of their choices without much hassle. There is something about having hotpot on a cool, chilly night – an experience we’d certainly not want to miss.

It is highly unusual to have such beautiful places in a tropical country like Malaysia, and we are very lucky to be blessed with a few. With the rapid increase of developments and deforestations along with the deteriorating air pollution index, much must be done in order to protect nature’s last frontiers in Malaysia.
