Island of gods is probably another name what Bali is known for. Not only offers you with comforting weather, picturesque landscape, crystal blue water and white sandy beaches, but this exotic island is also rich of history, culture, tradition, art, which are mostly influenced by Hinduism. This number one most favorite Balinese dance is based on great Hindu story of Ramayana. It was told that King Rama, together with the monkey-like army, fought the trickery Demon King named Rahwana, in order to save his beloved wife who was before kidnapped by him.

It always starts just before sunset which is around 18.00 pm local time, allowing you to both enjoy the astonishing performance and the beauty of the sky painted with rays of crimson light as the sun drowned into the horizon. With this special view of mesmerizing sunset and ocean as the backdrop and terraced seating made of stone, seeing Kecak Dance in Uluwatu temple is a great atmosphere. Lasting around 1 hour, this show leaves spectators feel in awe.
Covered with only black and white checkered pattern clothes around their waist, the large group of men dancers sits around, stands up, or lies around in a circle form, while making their movements in unison. We can hear their chanting of “cak…cak..cak” throughout the show. The rhythm of this “cak cak cak” is why this dance is called “Kecak”. As a matter of fact, what makes this performance so unique is that there is no music instrument. Instead, it was kind of “acapella”, which only the continuous chanting of those men that accompanies this dance. Combined with humor and great action of fire, this performance will surely keep you entertained.
