Char Kuey Teow

One of my favorite dishes in Malaysia is Char Kuey Teow. This dish has a Chinese background but is very popular in countries as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei. The dish is known for being prepared by people having their own Hawker stall
in Malaysia and Singapore.

Char Kuey Teow consists of flat rice noodles that are stir-fried with shrimps, egg, bean sprouts, onions, chives, tauge, bloody cockles or Chinese sausages also know as “lap cheong. These ingredients will all be mixed together with soy sauce, which will give it the nice flavor and sauce. It is very important that all ingredients are a fresh as possible.

Though this dish is very delicious please be careful with eating it on a regular basis. The dish contains a lot of calories and is quite fat. Char Kuey Teow was originally invented to full up the hungry hard working people in Malaysia. Since the dish is quite cheap and contains a lot of energy and nutrients the dish was very popular among them.
