The Wright Park- Baguio City

Planning to go to Baguio City and explore the place? Add Wright Park Baguio in your target list. I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the place especially if you are going with your family and loved ones in this adventure.

Brief History

Wright Park is named after its architect Governor Luke E. Wright who ordered architect Daniel Burnham to build the place with recreational facility for American soldiers and civilians.

Location

Being one of the many scenic parks in Baguio City, Wright Park is absolutely the right place you need to visit after seeing The Mansion which is just fronting the place.

It is located at the eastern part of the city and fronting the main gate of the Mansion. Its main features are a shallow elongated rectangular body of water known as the “Pool of Pines” and the park circle which is on one end of the park. Postcard-type photographs are usually taken at both ends of Wright Park. Bringing your camera would absolutely be perfect to complete your adventure experience.

Enjoying the place

At the both sides of the access road beside the pool, are tall pine trees and decorative street lights line. If you are fortunate enough, you can met and greet some Igorots dressed in their native attire and regalia who are willing to pose for a photograph. However, they ask for low cost fee. You can also buy native handicrafts sold at the end part of the Mansion made by few Igorot traders. From the park circle is a walkway which leads to a wide stairway made of stones that descend to an area where ponies are rented out.

What is being looked forward by many tourists is riding a pony that is a longtime favorite among children and even adults. The place is not boring and usually crowded during sunny weekends and on holidays. You can rent some ponies and taken farther out along South Drive, the Mines View Park area or to Outlook Drive with accompaniment. There are 200 ponies available for tourists so that everyone will accommodate. If you like the shade of pink, you can have pink ponies too. Amazing right? If you wish to take out a pony, it is advisable to first agree on the hourly cost to be charged.

The riding of the ponies has fixed prices of P200.00 per half an hour or P300.00 for an hour. In order for you to full enjoy the moment, I recommend to take the full one hour ride.

You can also take pictures of statue of native people of the region. These statues have no heads for you to be looked like one of them by standing at the back of these statues. Henna tattooing is also available for those who want to experience skin arts. You can also take photos beside big dogs for P50.00 only.
