Mount Malasimbo and Puerto Galera, The Philippines

In some parts of the Philippine territory, Mount Malasimbo is very known to many but only a few are aware that it exists in Northern Mindoro on the top view of the famous Puerto Galera beach.

Such fact is not even sentient to the writer herself since she lives in a region where there is a view of the so-called Mount Malasimbo. Yes, same name but in different locations. This other Mount Malasimbo is the one that exists in the nearby province called Zambales. The two mountains with the same name have both the attractive sight of a dome shape summit.

Mount Malasimbo in Puerto Galera is more famous and probably because it goes along with one of the famous beaches of the country. A dip in the beach and a hike in the mountain is such an enviable experience.

The trial to Mount Malasimbo

This Mount Malasimbo is a home for Mangyan tribes and so expect a close encounter with them as you climb. Walking distance from the beach front is the jump-off trail – at the Mangyan village in Barangay Talipanan. Mangyans are the indigenous people living in the said village. Most of them are already wearing the modern clothes and not anymore in tribal look as before.

Initial part of the trial is grassy slopes and an admirable view of the Puerto galera beaches. Expect a more grassy area as you go on towards the summit.

If a hiker would stay in Puerto Galera, a day climb is possible . Both fun and adventure at the beach and the sight of wild boars and grasses on the mountain should never be missed for a photoshoot.

How to get there at Puerto Galera

Get ready for a one ( 1 ) and a half hour car or bus trip from Manila. Take a bus plying the route from Manila to Batangas Pier. From the pier, ride on a ferry or boat going to Puerto Galera. Hiking and trekking, swimming at the falls and diving at the beach are just a few of the exciting things to do in Puerto Galera.

Enjoy and Have fun in the Philippines!
